Thanks so much for answering. I'm not a CA resident, but I have a lot of interest in politics and had seen a lot of negative response to Arnold in LJ, but not a lot of people have expanded on why. Speaking only in generalities, I do tend to be socially liberal and economically conservative as Arnold purports to be, but Arnold's stance on things has been rather vague and I do understand the concern for the "men behind the curtain" who might exert influence on him. I don't agree with the recall concept either and maybe after this is over someone will start the effort to take the recall laws off the books. As long as they exist, either party can take advantage of them if it suits their needs. Thanks again. I'll be keeping my eye on the news tonight.
I'd be really surprised if we didn't come out of this experience with some kind of reform or amendment made to alter the terms of a recall (at least expand the number of sigs needed for it to get started, I'd hope.) I think if the recall fails, there will be more. If it goes through, then it's a toss up the degree to which we'll see a change, especially depending on who the new governor is.
