Not sure if this is a stylistic thing – actually, no, I’m pretty sure it’s not, but I'll take this opportunity to bitch anyway! One of the things that really tends to bug me is when Spike or (even worse!) William refers to him mum as “mom”. It’s a little odd, but still quite believable that he’d called Joyce “Buffy’s mom”. That kind of change in language is easy to adapt too because it’s impersonal. But his own mum is gonna stay “mum”. Well, imho opinion anyway ;-)

Urgh, that bugs me SO much, Especially since I'm a Brit. I mean I don't go around having Buffy call Joyce Mum just because I do

Grr!!

Of course there's the thing where the over Brit Spike too so that he turns into Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Equally annoying. Spike has NEVER said 'cor'. People from London don't say core anymore. It's a 1920s/30s thing

Rant over

Only thing that makes me nuts in fanfic is when people start their story in the first person perspective and end in the third, (or 3rd to 1st), without any real "break" or reason for the change in tone... just, you know, midway through a sentence alter the perspective. Grr... (I don't mind when they have multiple first person narratives in one story, but if you start out in first person, stick with it!)
