Oh my gosh.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0360486/

Gavin Rossdale.... my Gavin Rossdale, my girlhood rocker crush of choice, the man who got married to Gwen Stefani the year I finally turned legal age enough to pursue him.... he's going to be in a movie with Keanu Reeves and Rachel Weisz? And he's going to play ...Balthazar?

I can't decide if I'm going to be happy because his perfect cheekbones will be plastered before me on huge theater size screens... or to be frightened by the fact that playing a hellspawn demon baddie might mean they'll give him demonic make-up. Too much make up would the whole point of seeing him on the abovementioned huge theater size screens.

I went to junior high and high school with Gwen Stefani. So I'm only ... uh ... a couple degrees of separation from Gavin Rossdale.

I'm just sayin'.

Oh my god. Wow. That's... weird.

Was she a nice person in middle school? Or was she a bitch? How did she dress? -- inane questions but I can't resist. Don't feel obligated to answer.

The important question... is she good enough for my british rockerbaby sweetcheeks?

She was kind of quiet, actually. She hung out with the sort of oddball musician types, rather than being particularly popular, despite how pretty she was. I do remember that one year (8th grade maybe?) she was voted "Best Smile."

In junior high, she dressed just like everyone else and really didn't stand out. But in high school, she wore her hair in a bob and dressed in a lot of black and white, little straight skirts (like from the early 60s) and herringbone check ... sort of like the girls The Beatles used to date back in the day. She hung out with ska guys who rode Vespas and listened to Fishbone. I don't remember her hanging out much with female friends ... only guys, probably the guys in her band.

I certainly never got the slightest impression that she was a bitch in any way shape or form. She just wasn't mainstream. I didn't actually know her very well, since I was in the "smart" classes, and she ... well ... wasn't. But she always seemed quiet and genuinely nice.

I have to imagine that, given the kind of people who tend to get famous, she's a lot nicer person than most.

Huh. That's nice to hear. I hope fame hasn't changed her too much then. Well, I suppose she passes then. ::pout:: She's still evil for stealing ma man...

To busy being exceptionally annoyed at the casting of Mr Reeves! Are they insane!

I've never read the books. I like Keanu Reeves, though. I always have. And I like Rachel Weis. So I'm looking forward to it.

Reeves is expected to play a down trodden working class English Magician. I am afraid I never much care for him at the best of time, but the thought of him doing a working class english accent...not good.
Honestly, the crazy suggestion that they cast James Masters, well that would have been better.

Rachel Weis is great though...

Well, admittedly, he doesn't look very British. I mean, he looks like a lot of things, but British has never been one of them in my mental image of him.

You're welcome. :)

Watching Perfect Blue was a very stiuational exprience for me... I don't think I would have sat through the first half hour (that was sooooo slow) if I hadn't been exhausted from running around a con and just wanting to park my butt in one of the theater-like show rooms. I'm glad I did, though, because it got very interesting by the end.

Yeah, the Hellblazer adaptation (Constantine). From what I'm hearing, it's gonna focus on the Ennis storyline "Dangerous Habits". Kinda interested in what they do, but totally pissed that Keanu Reeves is John Constantine. The casting crew totally dropped the ball with Colin Ferrell. He would have owned!!!

Collin Farrell would have been cool. He's a hottie and a good actor.

He's more than that. He was born to play this part. A smoking, drinking warlock that doesn't play by the rules. All he'd need to do is get a British accent, die his hair blonde, and he IS Constantine.

Well, he pulled off the bald look pretty well. As long as it's not full on blonde and a dirty blonde, I think he'd manage.
