What kind of file ends with .ax ?

I downloaded Read or Die, and it came in .mkv files.

So I downloaded the software for playing .mkv files.

And that is made of of .ax files. Like MatroskaSplitter.ax.

What the hell do i need now? Damn, I just wanted to watch anime before I went to class this mornin... Why must it be so hard?

No good. ::cries:: That's exactly the one that I downloaded. But it won't operate because all the stuff inside ends in .ex, which windows XP doesn't recognize. How is it that it works in yours?
