I'm downloading the dual-audio fandsubbed version of Trigun right now on bittorrent. Since I'm missing DVD volumes 1, 2, and the one DVD with the Rem episode, hopefully downloading these will give me good enough quality to match my DVDs so I can make vids. After I find out how to rip DVDs for videos, that is.

You're vidding Trigun too!! ::GLOMPS:: YES!! omg, to what? Do you want to pow-wow over it? Is it going to be character vid or relationship vid? (do you mind me asking? you can just tell me to bugger off...)

Let's pow-wow!

well, I haven't vidded anything yet.. I'm going to try to make some this summer, though. I have 3 vids I want to make for Trigun:

Coldplay - Politik:
A general Trigun video, maybe with a bit of Vash/Rem/Meryl tones. But it would have all the major characters and be considered in the general category. I've thought about it a lot and Politik is the best thing I can imagine for a Trigun theme song (aside from the real theme song, of course), because of the heavy philosophy element. The show is about Vash's state of mind and his conflicting philosophies and how all that is shaped by the people/world around him, so the lyrics fit.

Alabama 3 - Woke Up This Morning (Got Yourself A Gun):
My Wolfwood vid. My favorite character, and this song is just perfect for him. It's the full version of the Sopranos theme song. I have some of it planned out in my head, like the beginning, and parts of the different choruses. And I know exactly how it would end.
I've always wanted to make a video and make it good that uses footage from over the whole series, instead of just focusing on episode 23. Most vids, even the good ones, focus on that. If I did this I would probably not need any flashbacks, or if I did, only once and twice and briefly. Also, it wouldn't involve his final scene... it would be more about his whole presence on the series than about his tragedy.
I made a sort of break down for it here:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/rashaka/564228.html

Tori Amos - Raspberry Swirl:
This is a video I recently thought of that I'm very excited about trying. I recently watched a BtVS video that showed the entire series backward from the end to the beginning... I want to do something like that for Trigun (I emailed the vidmaker and told her I might one day use that concept for a video; she ahs yet to mail me back), though I would follow the timeline, not the episodes. So I would begin with Vahs & Knives's fight, and it would be like rewinding all the way back to when they're infants in the glowy yellow light. I picked Raspberry Swirl as the song for it because I didn't want to use the same song as the Buffy vid, but I needed a song that had a really steady beat all throughout so that the pacing would flow.

(do you mind me asking? you can just tell me to bugger off...)

No, please stay! You're welcome to ask me anything. I get bored if I don't have people talking to me!

What are yours about?

neaaaat! I don't think the vidder for the BtVS vid would mind, it's not like that's the first time something like that has been used. =) There is nothing new under the sun, if nothing else [livejournal.com profile] sisabet has pounded that into my head.

I'm doing:
Nickleback - Believe It Or Not
It's a Vash and Wolfwood friendship/enemy/parallels/pairing vid, not necessarily a slash vid but rather a connect-the-dots kinda thing with use of Rem (and Meryl as Rem), some Vash = Millie parallels, and some Wolfwood - Knives matchshots. It should be interesting because the song itself refers to beliefs and doubts. I have the outline for this one roughly laid out, and a quickie vid I just slammed together in an hour to see how it might look.

BareNakedLadies - One Week
It's too fun, I can't help it. It's going to be a bouncy movement vid with use of maybe two or three simulatneously running mini-vids (have you seen Fruits Basket? I'm thinking of something like where they sometimes have spilts screens) This one is going to be INSANE tho, and I'm going to have to do a ton of experimenting with Premiere before I'm able to even start, like I think I'll vid my PotC and BDS outlines before I start in on that one...

(more comments in a bit...)

OMG I  Fruits Basket!!! Love Love Love. That show kidnapped my inner child and fed it onigiri and ice cream.

Actually, the video I *most* want to make is a general FB vid to "Mr. Blue Sky" by E.L.O, but with a slight Kyo focus (but including clips from all the many characters). That's the song used in the trailer for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I swear that song was WRITTEN for the FB characters, even though it's like 30 years old.

I think One Week would make a pretty cool vid, if you keep up. But I think you're probably a serious enough vidder based on my interaction with you so far on other fandom things, so I think you won't waste that fast beat. :)

And I'm always up for good Trigun vids...

I could point you to some sometime. Do you go to www.animemusicvideos.org? That's the best place for AMVs on the net. You have to register but it's free (and they don't spam you or anything), and then a week after you register you can download videos. And they have THOUSANDS. It's very organized and they even have annual voters choice stuff. Anyway, I have a member account but no vids up...here's my list of favorite vids (several are Trigun, but also there's many Bebop, Naruto, Fruits Basket, etc etc):

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/favvids.php?user_id=7219

They've also got a lot of trailer vids there... I love trailer vids.

It's so easy, you just sign up then you never have to worry about it again. Actually, you can stay logged in permanentlky, but here's a funny thing-- if you choose to stay logged in it doesn't show that you are logged in when you go to the homepage, but if you use the search engine or are looking at the info for a video or something, then your member options appear on your left above the standard options. I don't know why they don't show up on the front page.

do you watch Farscape? There's a Farscape vid I could point you to that uses the Coldplay song Politik. Just minimize the window so you're only listening to it, and imagine the Trigun characters. I haven't watched it in a long time, not since I decided to vid the song to Trigun.

http://www.farscapefantasy.com/videos/index.php?set=video&id=228

Here are the lyrics.

"Politik"

Look at earth from outer space,
[space ships, whee! and planet views of Gunsmoke]
Everyone must find a place,
[the rows of the sleeping pods on the SEEDS ships contrasted to clips of crowds]
Give me time and give me space,
Give me real, don't give me fake,

Give me strength, reserve control,
Give me heart and give me soul,
Give me time, give us a kiss,
Tell me your own politik

Open up your eyes,
Open up your eyes,
Open up your eyes,
Just open up your eyes

Give me one, cause one is best,
In confusion, confidence,
Give me piece of mind and trust,
Don't forget the rest of us

Give me strength, reserve control,
Give me heart and give me soul,
Wounds that heal and cracks that fix,
Tell me your own politik

Open up your eyes,
Open up your eyes,
Open up your eyes,
Just open up your eyes

And give me love over, love over, love over this, ahhh
And give me love over, love over, love over this, ahhh

I was thinking of dividing it into a Vash verse, a Wolfwood verse, a Knives verse, and a Rem/Meryl or Milly/Meryl verse, though in what order I haven't decided yet, intersperced with general images from the show that fit lyrically or thematically or musically. Maybe Vash, then Meryl, then Wolfwood, and then Knives. I think the last two verses go particularly for those characters, especially "Give me piece of mind and trust/Don't forget the rest of us" for Wolfwood (who seems to embody the tragic cynicism and the downtrodden class of the Gunsmoke population) and "Wounds that heal and cracks that fix" for Knives, also a repeat of "reserve control."

For "love over this" I would have more than one pairing, and probably try to present the many familial and platonic loves in the series too. God knows there's all forms of love in Trigun.

::nods:: yup. You're planning to trim this song right?? 'cause it's WAY too long for a vid and it's gonna be demmed difficult to fill those repetitive chords that occur around the chorus without it getting out of control. I mean, if you have a rock solid idea of a theme for each of those areas where it's just one chord played over and over again then it should work, otherwise I would really really encourage you to just snip those bits out because all they're would do is get in the way of the story that you're trying to tell. If you need help with sound editing let me know! (but it's fantastically easier in Premiere ::grins::) Otherwise the song is neat! I can't wait to see what you'll do once you get Premiere...

This is a list of what I would some day like to make:

Buffyverse:
Matthew Good Band - Weapon (Buffy & Giles)
Janis Ian - Watercolors (Spike & Buffy)
Orgy - Fiction [She Dreams In Digital] (Dawn)
Green Day - She (Buffy)

Trigun:
Coldplay - Politik (general)
Alabama 3 - Woke Up This Morning (Wolfwood)
Tori Amos - Raspberry Swirl (general, backward)

Fruits Basket:
Electric Light Orchestra - Mr. Blue Sky (general + Kyo character vid)
Sugarcult - Memory (Kyo/Tohru vid)

Cowboy Bebop:
Eve 6 - Promise (Spike vid, maybe Spike/Faye)
Nada Surf - Blizzard of 77 (character vid, Spike, Faye, Jet)
Jimmy Buffett - Nautical Wheelers (general)

Ranma 1/2:
Eve 6 - On the Roof Again (Ranma)

Naruto:
Tom McRae - A & B Song (Naruto vs. Sasuke vid... this one isn't even possible yet because they haven't fought yet in the anime but I'm certain they will at some point, and then I'll have the proper source footage)

Gundam Wing:
Rolling Stones - Paint It Black (Duo character vid)

Most of these I will probably never get around to making. But that's my dream list... I think I'm gonna copy it to my LJ too.

ooo neat! I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to post my complete list, will probably jinx it or something...but I pretty much have one or two possible vids in all the fandoms I write in and a couple of movie fandoms. =) Oh yeah, and a Cowboy Bebop to Someday by Nickleback.

hmm! I haven't heard much Coldplay but that does sound interesting. I love how much philosophy goes into anime, and it makes meta so easy! =) What's interesting is watching Boondock Saints right after Trigun, it's an interesting match...

Regarding Woke Up This Morning, YAY! Wolfwood vid! ::is happy and joins you in adoration:: Though I haven't watched any Trigun vids so I don't know what's been overused although I think I can pretty much guess...And THANK YOU for your choice to use images from throughout the series, I've seen a couple vids that try to just concentrate episode-wise and it just seems to not be taking advantage of the song enough and letting neat beats and tempo changes go to waste.

With Raspberry Swirl: that would be neat! Will you be using any physically reversed clips as well? kinda like they're physically being rewound, like that one music video of...was it U2 that did it? where it works backwards through a car crash...

Yup. Which I will figure out how to do at some later date. And the video you're talking about is Coldplay's "The Scientist". Very good. Both sad and not sad. The way this video would be.

I would love your for that! I know it would be easier to get help from fandom vidders on my Flist because they all use Premier. I'll be connected all night so when you put it up I can download it tonight (go DSL!) then let you know when I finish so you don't have to have it up for too long.
