Can anyone explain Boogiepop Phantom to me?

I just watched the second episode with no context and never having seen the first.

Boogiepop is fucked up but gets better as you see more, because the pieces start to fall into place. I need to get the box set one of these days. Hey, wanna buy stuff for me at your anime fair thing? ;)

Boogiepop is like Tales from the Crypt, except the stories are interconnected. In the first episode, you see the bug-eater talk to a girl in the nurses' office, and you have no idea what he's talking about...until you see the second episode and find out why he's crazy.

Pretty durned good.

Yeah... I don't know if I want to go watch the rest of the eps or not. Horror isn't really my favorite genre of anime and the bug-eating guy was too rapist-like and the whole thing didn't exactly encompass what I like to watch.

Wow you've gotten farther than I could. I made it through the first episode and my brain was crying so I stopped.

But my friend says once you watch it all the way through a second time it makes more sense.
