I named my C:\ drive "Hughes". I named my D:\ drive "Heart of Gold". My entire computer is named "Deep Thought".

If I'm not a fangirl of one thing, I'm a fangirl of another.

I love that you did this. I love your icon. I love that someone else fangirls Hughes as much as I do. XD

Isn't that tempting fate a bit? *g*

You don't know what it's already been through. At this point, it's so durable and capable and functional (I have like a gig of memory now!) that only great treachery from a trusted source (my multiple housemates, who seem so nice?) could hurt it now.

Plus it's an homage thing.

My iPod is named "Kyo". The little black mouse that graces my room with his presence is named "Roy".

I alternate computer names ... "My Precious Link to the Internet" and "Stupid Piece of Shit" *g*

Kawaii. Have you read anything by Douglas Adams, by the way? "Heart of Gold" and "Deep Thought" both come from his book The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. Which is coming out in movie form in 2005.

After that comes out and after the Ender's Game movie comes out two years from now, and thinking of LOTR too, it means that 3/4 of my favorite books will have become films within a 6 year period.

Nope, I was usually known for having my nose buried in a horror book.

I'm all squee over Ender's Game.

The enemy's gate is down!

I read Ender's game in 2 days, in the car, at age 15. I *wish* someone had told me about it when I was 11 or 12. I adore that book so much. I haven't even read any of the other Enderverse books for fear that they'd tarnish my happy memory of the first book. I'm both excited and mortified at the idea of a movie.

Sure, it could be great. If the late Stanley Kubrick were to rise from the dead and direct it. But I fear anyone now would be afraid to have a movie that involves the emotional abuse of 6-to-12-year-olds, two fights/killings amongst young children (one that takes place in a shower room of all places) by the hero, and mass genocide.

You could say I'm paranoid it will be ruined.
