His delivery was just wonderful-- so deliciously insidious and softly evil. It took the normal villain's "ARGH! Why isn't my enemy dead/captured yet?!" reaction and just made it...better.
He's very talented. Have you seen him in Ladder 49? Kind of a corny fireman movie (for which I tend to have a weakness anyway) but he totally sold me emotionally in it. I never really cared for him before that, other than as a villian, but he made a great hero too.
