My Adult Swim dream schedule:

SATURDAYS (& Thursdays!)
ACTION BLOCK

11:00 - The Vision of Escaflowne

11:30 - Full Metal Alchemist

12:00 - Monster

12:30 - The Twelve Kingdoms

01:00 - Fruits Basket

01:30 - Lupin III (new episodes!)

And after one of those shows runs out of episodes, replace it with Gungrave or Hellsing or Gundam Wing. And eventually, add Naruto as well.

I would have added Princess Tutu to my dream schedule, but even I know that some dreams are simply too grand and too sweet to ever make it to reality.

*laughs* That would be absolutely fabulous, with the small problem of I prolly wouldn't tune in as I've seen the shows in their entirety. Well, except for Lupin. And I have all of them on DVD except for Monster. (And, well, what hasn't been released of FMA.)

... that really, really, REALLY amuses me for some reason.

*randomly* They need to make a D.Gray-man anime.

Deciding order was surprisingly difficult! After all, you can't really follow Monster with Furuba. :D

I'm up through episode 23 now, by the way! of 12K, I mean. And let me say--- still such a Rakushun/Yoko shipper. Even Enki is a Rakushun/Yoko shipper!

I like the idea of Hellsing on Adult Swim. I don't think I've seen it air anywhere other than the Action Channel. I'd put in my vote for the OVA version, though, even though I haven't seen it. I've watched the "bootlegged" trailer about fifteen times and I'm so excited, it's not even funny.

Do you think I'd like The Twelve Kingdoms?

I think you'd like 12K, yeah. It's very much an outright adventure-- there's some faint hints of a romance, but they don't come into play until much later and its very understated. It's a show that's about magic and politics and war. Have you ever seen Fushigi Yuugi? Take that kind of fantasy story, strip it of all the typical chibi humor and slapstick and any shred of shoujo romance, and just make it about destiny and about a fantastical world... and that's 12K.

I'm up to episode 23 now. The show goes at a pretty exciting clip from episodes 1-13, with plenty of squee-worthy fun. (Fun in the sense of plot, I mean. That's my fun of choice.) It slows down its pace a little from episodes 14-22, but still enough to keep me up watching last night so that I only got 4.5 hours of sleep!

What to say about 12K... it's not FMA. Halway through and I know this show is probably not going to make me ball my eyes out like episode 25 or laugh like episode 37. But it's a strong story with characters that I was at first interested in if not necessarily fond of--- who then became characters I liked a lot.

It's not a brainfucking anime. But it's a solid, well-made, beautifully animated, well-written action/adventure fantasy. Which, frankly, I think anime could ALWAYS use more of. It's also based on books, not manga, so it...feels more like reading a novel sometimes, if that makes sense. Also, in terms of plot its never quite gone the way I expected. It's rarely WTFs in a sudden jarring sense, but it's nicely and subtly surprising. I think "they're probably going to take the story this direction," and instead they go another way entirely.

Oh, and an important thing (this alone is usually enough to make ME try an anime)--- the dialogue is good. The scripts are good have a mature style to them. And I appreciate any anime that doesn't dumb itself down for the audience.

But really, I'm squeeing for it right now. It's providing me a temporary vacation from anime like PAgent, which makes my head hurt even though I love it.

I'll give it a look when I have time. Sounds interesting from what I've read.

One of the things I like about 12 Kingdoms was the way the plot moves kind of the direction I expect it will, but things happen totally differently from how I figure. It is kind of like reading a novel, come to think of it, just one with really pretty pictures. (Is shallow, wut.)
