Mar. 12th, 2006 10:39 pmI'm watching this Trigun AMV to the movie trailer audio of "Brokeback Mountain" (amv.org), and hearing Jake G.'s voice come out of Wolfwood's mouth is just cracking me up beyond words.

Date: 2006-03-14 02:05 am (UTC)But I really like Kyo and Yuya, so I facepalm when they are dumb. I like Kyoshiro most of the time, but when he does his Noble Pure Warrior For Peace schtick I want to smack him for some reason.
The SDK manga is just bad enough to irritate me without it being over-the-top awful enough to be delicious crack I can wallow in. It's got enough shonen tropes and character charms that ping me right to make me want to keep reading, but so much of the art and story development is handled awkwardly that it pulls me out of the story and makes me grumpy.

Date: 2006-03-14 01:49 am (UTC)I could easily see myself becoming totally obsessed with the SDK manga Back In The Day, especially if it were one of the first sword-fight-y manga that I'd read. But since I've seen what it does done better in series like "Bleach" and "Blade of the Immortal", most of its flaws get thrown into pretty sharp relief for me and it doesn't hold quite the same fascination for me as I know it once would have. Still, it's a nice solid shonen series that is entertaining and sometimes charming and that hits a lot of my bulletproof shonen kinks, and I really like two of the three main characters a lot, and as much as I make growly noises at it as I read I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next volume at my local library. So hopefully the anime will be entertaining enough to make the wait less annoying. Does that work as a review / guarded rec?
