Wait, what... are there TWO subtitle tracks!?!?!!!

That's... that's not fair!

I got through 11 episodes without knowing that! No wonder the subtitles matched the English so perfectly... unbelievable...

Although, now that I know it's there, that's pretty cool. Having both like that. At least I can finally watch the English dialogue and the Japanese-to-English direct subtitles at the same time to compare the editing changes. [/geek]

I'm finally watching the new Escaflowne DVD #8 that I bought. This is the first time I've rewatched the last episodes in over 2 years, since I initially watched the show. I watched episode 24 this morning and will watch the rest tonight.

Because I haven't had all the emotional lead-in this time of watching the other eps directly before it, Escaflowne is a little less emotional. But then I still have the last two episodes. I admit I almost cried at the very end of the show when I first watched it. I came closer to crying than I did watching the end of Cowboy Bebop or Fruits Basket.

Ahh... I just :heart: Escaflowne. While it ranks about 4th on my heart's favorites, I still put it at the top of my "most well done anime" list.

I love that behind the battles and the mecha and medieval politics and the science fiction... at the heart it's a very carefully built up love story. It's a romance. Esca is one of those animes where I find it hard to accept Van or Hitomi in any other realistic pairing, because the entire series is their love story. They're as made for each other as Mulder & Scully, or John Chricton and Aeryn Sun.

This is how I like my romances. Long, complexly developed, and with lots of explosions and swordfighting. And heck, as if it's any wonder Buffy/Spike is my BtVS pairing. It's no good if you don't have to work like hell for it.

EDIT: I also :heart: the whole
Van < < > > Hitomi < < > > Allen < < Aries & the late sister & Millerna < < Dryden & Cid's father
love poly-drangle. Man that must make for tense Christmas reunions.

My mom and I were watching the last 16 of VH1's 100 Hottest Hotties. We disagreed with several choices, Ashton Kutcher and Justin Timberlake being two particularly undeserved spots.

So I made my own list. And my mom's (you can tell her influence comes in the glaring lack of Ewan McGregor-- even though he's not gorgeous, he's only very very very cute, I fought her bitterly over it and eventually she won by reason that this is only for the tip top, not my private crushes.) Guys only. No order, because I can't keep them in any kind of real order for long, so it's just in the order I thought of them. But these are my guys. This is my harem. It is current, meaning no "young Harrison Ford" or "young Denzel Washinton" or anything like that.

LIST: Taye Diggs. Colin Farrel. David Duchovny. Matthew McConaughey. Johnny Depp. L L Cool J. James Marsters. Tom Cruise. Rob Lowe. Keanu Reeves. Will Yun Lee (Witchblade). Orlando Bloom. George Clooney. Gavin Rossdale. Halle Berry. Brad Pitt. Aragorn. Hugh Jackman.

Yeah, I snuck my girl crush in there. But I really think it's impossible to make a list that in any way measures attractiveness and not include her-- she trancends gender. I have androgynous love for her beauty.

Yesterday and today I splurged to buy 3 manga volumes to read over Fourth fo July vacation. Fruits Basket #3, Trigun #1, and Saiyuki #1. I got them at 10% off since I'm a "subscriber" which means the store sets specific titles for me aside each month free of charge, and as a reward I get any magazine or comic or manga at an automatic discount.

I was walking out of the store and just picked my new Saiyuki manga when I flipped it open and realized something... the first pages weren't in color! They were in black and white!

::fullstop::

::gape::

::turn around and go back 15 feet to the store::

I asked the manager if they had any of the versions with the color art at the front that I had scene in Borders the other day and they said no, it must have been special limited edition or something.

I stood there a moment and pondered. Do I

A) keep the version I just bought at $9.47 with the discount

B) return it and go back to Borders and buy it there for $10.81 no discount, but with pretty color pictures

Of course, I chose option B.

It's only a dollar and if I'm going to fork over 10 bucks for an untried, untested manga full or semi-pornographic bishounen, then I damn well deserve to get them in color!

So today I went to Borders and bought Saiyuki #1.

I'm reading FB#3 right now. Oh my God!! volume 3 spoilers for manga )

20 Questions to a Better Personality

You are an SECF--Sober Emotional Constructive Follower. This makes you a hippie. You are passionate about your causes and steadfast in your commitments. Once you've made up your mind, no one can convince you otherwise. Your politics are left-leaning, and your lifestyle choices decidedly temperate and chaste.

You do tremendous work when focused, but usually you operate somewhat distracted. You blow hot and cold, and while you normally endeavor on the side of goodness and truth, you have a massive mean streak which is not to be taken lightly. You don't get mad, you get even.

Please don't get even with this web site.

take it here: http://hokev.brinkster.net/quiz/default.asp

I don't agree with half of it, especially since I tend to lead rather than follow, and only follow at carefully chosen situations (I think it's to my advantage, or I'm feeling lazy), and I'm incredibly far from being a hippie in anyone's stretch of the imagination. And my mean streak tends to manifest itself on random unsuspecting victims who don't deserve it and frequently don't realize how mean I am being to them--- it rarely manifests as revenge. I'm just not that active in carrying out revenge, dunno why. I don't get even; I get mad and scream at inanimate objects.

But it's an amusing quiz. Got my politics and my work ethic in the second paragraph dead on.
