Saiyuki 12

Good:

1. Hakkai's English voice actor still makes me happy.
2. This whole "human who bathes in the blood of a thousand demons" thing is cool and a much better plot twist than I was expecting.


Bad:

1. Hakkai did not kill off all his friends and go on to have his own series without the annoying ones taking away his angsty screen time.
2. Hakkai's English voice actor can't scream for shit.
3. lame ending.

how do you make those paper string toys?

In recently made Sleepy Hollow film, Tim Burton version, Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane uses a paper and string toy to relax him and help him think.

I want to make a toy like that as a gag gift (with a different set of pictures on it), but I don't remember exactly how it works. And I don't have the movie to just look at it and figure it out.

Does anyone remember exactly how they're made/work? I know you have one picture on each side of the paper disk that you want to merge together with the optical illusion, and it's on string... but I don't remember if it's one string or two, or exactly how it's attached to the string. Or any details, really.

Anyone have any ideas? Or have the movie and want to tell me what it looks like in the movie?

FMA 26 & 27

The Elric Brother's teacher is the bomb. She's got dreadlocks. That's so freaking cool.

And in the military characters plotline... ::cries again just because life is unfair::

Side Note: I think "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes is a great Edward song, n'est-ce pas?

The Pillows

... are a Japanese band. More specifically, they're the band that provided the music of FLCL, or Fooly Cooly.

I happened to have my FLCL burned soundtrack in my truck when I was driving my Uncle Kerry and his son Josh around a few days ago, in Oregon. Family reunion, remember.

My uncle went bonkers over the music. He loved it. He used to play guitar and drums for several years, so he's a music buff. And he said he'd even heard of their name (but never heard their actual music). That kinda surprised me because I had never heard of The Pillows until I watched FLCL and got interested in the music.

I know why he likes it though-- I adore it myself. It's so singable, even though I don't speak Japanese so I'm probably not singing it right. And the instrumental stuff too, where there's nothing to sing... I love it so much.

I think sometime soon I'll put up a few of their songs for LJ, vocal and instrumental.

You know what I love about Full Metal Alchemist that sets it apart from Naruto? -- it's animation is consistant. I swear, it never deviates or abruptly changes. I love Naruto like I love nothing else right now, but the inconsistancy of their animation breaks my heart. Take a lesson from FMA.

I performed my first major friends list alteration, which I had hoped to avoid forever but had become necessary for the sake of my sanity.
