music vid program suggestions?
Mar. 13th, 2004 09:25 pmOkay. I give in. I want to start making a music a video.
saava, the day you never thought you'd see has come!
I've got the source material, I've got the song, I've sort of got a plan.
Of course, I don't at all have the time. But if I don't start now, with this, I'm never going to get the gumption to start one.
So, tell me... what's a good program that I can download from a website or Kazaa to make music videos?
For a beginner! Be gentle, it's my first time. ::batts eyes::

Date: 2004-03-14 01:16 am (UTC)But now, I must pimp my favourite program. Vegas Video by Sonic Foundry. It's *great*... multiple tracks, lots of filters, and very easy to get the hang of. Functionality-wise, it's on the same level as Premiere, I believe. Except VV does not tend to crash as much, whereas a lot of versions of Premiere that can be found online seem to have major issues with importing certain codecs.
So yeah... start out with WMM, and if you find you need a bit more control, try VV.
Also, if you haven't already, download VirtualDub- pretty much anyone who vids will tell you this little program makes things *so* much easier.

Date: 2004-03-14 01:24 am (UTC)Also... is there any way to take subtitles off of a vid file? Because the source I'm using is an anime that was fan-subbed, with the subtitles added to the video. I think it's not quite connected because if my computer is irrationally slow (as has too often lately), then the subtitles don't always quite match up with picture and sound. But I don't really understand anything about how fan subs are made, so I don't know if there's any way to un-make them.

Date: 2004-03-14 01:37 am (UTC)You can save your clips without sound, which makes things easier when vidding because you don't have to play with sound controls and everything. Also, you can use the filters to resize clips, deinterlace, and generally clean them up.
As for removing subtitles, there's a tutorial with a few ways here. I don't know if there's really any other way to remove subtitles from a video file.
