Do two mosquitos count as an infestation?

Because I flushed one down my shower drain 4 days ago, and I just found one dead while cleaning my shower tonight.

There's a mass swarm of moquitos living underneath our house! They could be carrying the West Nile Virus!

Some of you Southerners are probably snickering, but look at it from my point of view. I live in the middle of San Jose, in the temperate, dry Northern California, no where near standing water, and I normally see about 3 mosquitos a year actually around my house.

In the last week I've now seen two thirds of my annual count. It's an infestation!

As as Texan who has spent nights sleeping with a sheet over my face to prevent the swarms of mosquitoes coming through the hole in the screen from eating me alive and who regularly wanders into my kitchen at 2AM and sees fat and lively roaches skittering away from the light into the floor cracks, to you I say: Bitch, please. ;P

I love California. I'm never leaving this place.

Did I mention the giant bees in Georgia that infested the dorm building next to mine this year and would get in my window and dive-bomb my lamp at night when I was trying to read in bed? Or hey! Scorpions! We got your scorpions in Texas! And fire ants! Lots and lots of fire ants!

On the other hand, we also have hornytoads, which are so cute, docile, and pettable they almost make up for everything else.

About a month ago, we had these huge black bumblebees, just over half the size of my thumb (and fat), caught in our house. 3 times in two weeks. I think it might have been the same bee #2 for the third time, but I can't be sure.

Somehow the thought of the repeat bee really amuses me.

And I went looking for hornytoads on Google and OMG LOOK AT THE CUTENESS OF THIS PICTURE EEEE EEEE EEEESQUEAK!! *swoops on hornytoad and cuddles it*

Technically the name of the animal is 'horned lizard', but any Texan worth his/her salt calls it a 'hornytoad'. :D Which gets us weird looks from non-Texans, yo.

(pssssst...can you tell me where I can find/download early "Naruto" manga? My friend [livejournal.com profile] beatgeek sent me volume 1, and I'd quite like to see more.)

Honey, you haven't seen mosquitos till you've been to Australia, where fly screens and liberal doses of mosquito repellant are a must, lest you be eaten alive by the bastards. Oh, and forget about wearing perfume in summer, lest you want a whole army buzzing around you permanently.

I love Australia - bug capital of the world ;)

yeah... but isn't everyone in Australia beautiful and fun at parties? That should count for something. (according to my Navy brother...)

Use netspeak in my LJ under anything less than extreme mocking situations, and someone's going to die, mon amie, ma cherie, my friend.

::sighs:: really, though, I don't like that stuff. My appreciation of netspeak extends to "teh" and the occasional incomprehensible sentence used only in situations of specifically mocking badfic, badfic reviews, and B/A Ducks.

I've noticed a few people replacing o with 0 lately and I don't like it. It's hard to read and makes me grumpy.

Silly girl, I'm only doing it because OMG YOU HAVE NO MOSQUITOES I KILL YOU!

And sometimes in a facetious sort of way.

AHHH! Your icon moves!

Check this one out. Sakura moving Animatrix style.

These two icons I made recently. The Naruto icon is from episode 80 --::cries for the angst::-- and the Sakura icon is from the 3rd season opening.

How far in Naruto have you gotten?

I just made two links lists here, for bittorrents and for manga downloads for [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue.
