School-

Took the big nasty Statistics final today. Not sure what I got. On the upside, I got 70/75 on my second major group project, which should give me some decent cushioning.

Still have to write my essay on gender descrimination for my Social Problems class, and turn it in by Friday.

Still have to complete my Fiction Writing notebook, and turn that in.

Expanding my horizons-

I'm listening to the 'Posession' CD (1 of 3) that [livejournal.com profile] saava made for Buffy & Spike, and I love it. My favorite new song so far is #2, "Something I Can Never Have" by Nine Inch Nails.

Fic-

Some of my favorite stories were updated in the last few days.

Sang et Ivoire two new parts up, 25 & 26. Always will adore this story, cause its killer.

The Passage of Memory, by Lara Dean Brierley. Two final parts up, and they break your heart in the sexiest, most sensual way. I loved the ending.

When Darkness Falls, by L. A. Ward and Sagnuine. Two new parts up, includin one of the best Spike rants I've seen in a fanfic.

Life-

Questions:

1. Is there some adults-only-know etiquette for having sex when you're on your period? Do people do it? Does being on your period make it feel different? Is it more messy?

2. Of women who like pornography or sex fiction (including fanfic), do homosexual women like porn/fic that displays homosexual men? Do they like porn/fic with hetero couples, or only female slash? Do homosexual men like pronography/fiction depicting two women, like het guys do?

3. Is it possible to break your own hymen (sp?) with a vibrator?

1. Personal preference. Some people have sex while on their period, some don't. Some women have a higher sex drive around that time of the month, some don't feel like doing anything but eating chocolate, watching Oprah and crying alot. Some women don't feel any different. Any of these things may effect someone's likelihood to wanna do it while on their cycle. Some men are completely squicked by it. It's messy, but with a towel on your sheets, it's nothing like a murder scene or anything equally horrific. In the shower is kinda nice. The only way it feels different is because it makes things more slippery. Which is never really a bad thing. It's easier to contract certain STD's while on your period, if I remember my Health and Sexuality class correctly.

2. I know alot of lesbian women who like gay male porn, alot of straight men who like lesbian porn, alot of straight women who like gay porn, and - the possibilities here are too endless. It's a personal preference thing, and having been around slash this long, I can't even lay odds on whether or not sexual orientation has anything to do with what kind of pornography (if any) someone is going to enjoy.

3. Most women break their hymen long before they have sex. Do you do gymnastics? Strenuous aerobics? Ever ride a horse? Any and all of these things can get the job done. The whole significance of "hymen breaking" is really overdone. I know alot of women who's 'first time' didn't hurt at all. And no one can "tell" if someone is a virgin, even by giving them a pelvic exam.

Hope any of that helped. My god, this was good practice in case I ever have a daughter. Right now, I'm just grateful I have a son. I am practicing "go ask your father!" in many tones of voice.

Thanks for the in-depth answers. I've had conversations about technicalities of sex with my mom, and my Dad seems almost over-willing to talk to me about the _emotional_importance_&_ramifications_ of sex, so he can be sure in his own mind that I don't get into anything stupid. His conversations can almost get exhausting. My mom's much more practical and strait-forward about it; I was gonna ask her if I didn't get any useful answers here. So thanks.

Heh.

No problem, actually. Way back when, I was a LMHT for adolescents in an inpatient facility. You haven't lived until you've shown three schizophrenics and a bipolar teenager how to put a condom on a banana.

I truly haven't lived then, I'm afraid. Oh well, I have time!

I think "Sanctified" (from the same NIN album, Pretty Hate Machine) is a better fit for the B/S dynamic, but "Something I Can Never Have" would be my second choice from that album. Of course, the best fit of any NIN song is "Closer" from The Downward Spiral. I swear it's just sex put to music. I love Trent Reznor.

I'm thinking about buying a NIN cd, don't have any yet. I tend to like their songs that are iether 1) slow, like 'Hurt' or 2) very weird 'Into The Void'.

When I first heard this song I was much younger, and kinda freaked by it. Then suddenly this year I listened to it on the radio, and I loved it. I sing along now, and stuff. And I've currently got my braintwin [livejournal.com profile] bloodypoetry swearing up and down across her soul that she'll make an S/B vid to it. But not until she finishes 'Greedy Fly'.

::waving:: I have sex on my period all the time. No big. Just....if you're worried about the sheets, put down a towel (and you'll both have to shower afterwards). Is it different? Not especially. More messy? Only on the heaviest days, which I generally avoid, anyway, because I'm crampy and irritable.

2. Of women who like pornography or sex fiction (including fanfic), do homosexual women like porn/fic that displays homosexual men? Do they like porn/fic with hetero couples, or only female slash? Do homosexual men like pronography/fiction depicting two women, like het guys do?

Dunno. I'm not a lesbian. As a heterosexual woman, I prefer het smut. But that's because I read NC-17 stuff to be titillated, and two guys? ::shrug:: Just not sexy to me. Some femslash is sexy (mostly because I can relate to the sensations if not the situations, but I don't normally seek it out.

3. Is it possible to break your own hymen (sp?) with a vibrator?

Possibly. But I wouldn't recommend it. And yes, my 'deflowering' hurt. But I'm willing to bet that it would have hurt a lot less had it not been in the back seat of a compact car out behind the snack bar at the local airport, with a moron who didn't have the first clue what he was doing. Oh, but I'm not bitter. ;)

My advice would be: choose the moment and the person carefully. There are many, many, many delightful sexual activities which don't involve actual penetration, and which can help you determine your partner's sexual competence in advance of that first delicate fuck.

:blinks: It was a queston of curiosity in physical possibiility you know, not a declaration of intentions.

:) Anyway, thanks for offering up answers. These are sort of the random questions I never got around to asking my mom, and I didn't feel like waiting two hours for on hold with the radio station just to ask them on LoveLine.

Eh. ::shrugs:: Just felt like it needed a disclaimer. ;)

Oh, no problem. LJ's a good place to ask - probably an infinite variety of experiences among the women assembled here. :)

Actually, I do enjoy having sex while on my period. It makes it feel dfferent in the sense that it can be much more lubricated. My sex drive tends to be higher during this time also. I believe (though not 100% certain) that directly after your period is the tiem you are most likely to get pregnant. Although it is very possible to get pregnant at any point in your ovulation cycle. It can be much more messy- especially for the guy. Some guys don't like it. My hubby has to be in the right mood/mindset to have sex while I am on my period. I think it freaks him out sometimes to see his penis covered in blood afterwards.

2. Of women who like pornography or sex fiction (including fanfic), do homosexual women like porn/fic that displays homosexual men? Do they like porn/fic with hetero couples, or only female slash? Do homosexual men like pronography/fiction depicting two women, like het guys do?
I strictly like male/female fic. I don't mind 2 guys with a girl or such - but don't particularly like male/male or female/female at all.

3. Is it possible to break your own hymen (sp?) with a vibrator?
Yes it is possible. Mine was broken at the doctor's office for my first pelvic exam and was very painful. I was having very irregular periods (18 days a month) - so I had to be checked out.

There was a brief time in... 9th grade, I think, when I was having my period that often. 17 days was the lowest count, I think. I remember bitching to my mom "I'm not supposed to be getting it EVERY TWO WEEKS!!!!" I absolutely hated it, but it only lasted a few cycles.
